Adani Mining Pty Ltd is developing the Carmichael Coal Mine within the Galilee Basin. The mining lease is located approximately 160 kilometres north-west of Clermont. The rail line is a narrow-gauge line, 200 kilometres long connecting the Carmichael Coal Mine to the Aurizon Newland rail line, which connects to the Port of Abbot Point.
The BMD scope of works includes the construction of the Narrow-Gauge Rail Formation, Earthworks, Drainage,Structures and Roadworks. VE Group were engaged by BMD as a major wet plant hire supplier from April 2020 on this project. VE quickly proved to be a supplier of choice for the client and through developing a strong relationships with other subcontractors supplied in excess of 45% of the project required plant and equipment.
VE Group wet hired 64 pieces of plant to BMD and 17 Truck and Dogs to the local quarries which supply quarry material to the project. The plant and equipment supplied to BMD are listed in the graphic below and are a mixture of VE and cross-hired equipment. The graphic below demonstrates the rapid rate at which the team had to mobilise to a remote site to meet client requirements.
