VE Group AU is a leading Queensland-based civil construction and transport logistics company. We are seeking an experienced Resident Fitter who has the qualifications of a Mobile Plant Mechanic/ diesel fitter to support our Central Queensland (Moura) operations, providing hands-on maintenance and breakdown support across our fleet.
This role is ideally suited to a qualified diesel fitter who is capable and enjoys autonomy. They understand the importance of maintaining equipment to enhance productivity and work directly with Operational Crews both in the workshop and on site.

About the Role
As a Resident Fitter you will:
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on mobile equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults
• Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs to minimise downtime
• Work independently across site and depot environments
• Identify defects and emerging maintenance issues early
• Complete work orders, inspections and maintenance records accurately
• Follow VE Group safety systems, including task and machine risk assessments
• Liaise closely with supervisors and operators to provide practical technical support
This role is equally hands-on both in the field and in the workshop.
What We’re Looking For
You will ideally have:
• Australian recognised Plant and Heavy Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
• Strong experience working on transport and earthmoving equipment
• Proven ability to fault find and work independently in the field
• A strong safety mindset and pride in quality workmanship
• Current driver’s licence (MR licence)
• White Card
• Good communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach
