About the Role
VE Group AU Pty Ltd is looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our SEQ projects team. You’ll be working alongside a variety of civil construction machinery, including compactors, scrapers, dozers and ADTs. We pair our operators with their own machine, ensuring a dynamic work environment with ever-changing landscapes. This role offers both local and future FIFO opportunities, providing room for growth as you become part of a team delivering successful construction projects. What You’ll Be Doing:
- Operate Caterpillar 336 Excavator to perform various earthworks, including bulk earthmoving, trenching, final trim and detailed excavation.
- GPS excavation and final trim operations to precise tolerances using Trimble systems.
- Conduct trenching, benching, battering, and backfilling for roads, drainage and utility installations.
- Work within tight tolerances and interpret engineering plans to execute jobs efficiently.
- Load and manage haul trucks while ensuring safe and effective material movement.
- Carry out bulk earthworks, site preparation and land rehabilitation.
- Operate in various ground conditions, ensuring stability and safety.
- Perform daily machine pre-starts, maintenance, and minor troubleshooting to maximise efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, and fellow operators to maintain smooth project flow.
- Adhere to strict health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe worksite at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as an Excavator Operator in civil construction.
- Strong experience in GPS excavation, final trim and detailed earthworks.
- Proficiency in battering, trenching, benching, backfilling and material handling.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and survey marks.
- Experience working with various soil types and ground conditions.
- RII certification for Excavator operation.
- HR or MC license (desirable but not essential).
- Strong commitment to precision, safety, and efficiency.
- FIFO and travel flexibility to work across SEQ and beyond as needed.
