Senior Project Manager/Civil Engineer – SEQ & CQ

VE Group AU are a Civil Contracting, Plant Hire and Transport Logistics Company looking for a Project Manager / Snr Civil Engineer to join our Pre-Contracts and Operations Team. VE Group currently provides services across several industry sectors such as roads, rail and resources with a large owned plant fleet of civil and transport equipment working throughout Queensland.

This role would suit someone who first and foremost aligns to our values and has a solid background in civil earthworks and road construction and preferably holds RPEQ qualification.

As VE Group Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing projects through tender stage to practical completion. Reporting directly to the General Manager you will also work closely with the company’s area managers, civil supervisors, allocators, operations team and procurement team.

The role encompasses the following responsibilities:

• Promotes a positive safety and environmental culture
• Prepares and submit tenders
• Project budgeting, costings and tracking
• Create and monitor project programs, production rates and project completion requirements
• Adherence to Legislative Frameworks including Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems policies and procedures
• Maintain a current understanding of industry and client compliance requirements
• Preparation and submission of progress claims and additional works claims as required

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
• RPEQ qualification preferable
• Min. 5 years’ experience on civil construction projects
• Project management experience
• Ability to work with project management tools, systems and processes
• Action oriented approach to resolve conflicts and manage client expectations
• Exceptional communicator with the skills of leadership and effective people management
• Professional presentation
• Current Drivers Licence
• DIDO project deliver based upon a 10/4 roster

• Service, maintenance, fault diagnoses and repairs to Caterpillar earthmoving equipment
• Competency in computer technology
• Clear communication skills both written and verbal
• Highly focused on workplace health and safety, workmanship, and an understanding of the level of service we provide to our clients
• Ability to work independently and prioritise your tasks, demonstrating your strong time management skills.
• You would be comfortable working in a team environment or minimal supervision and would be flexible with day, afternoon and weekend shifts when required
• Essential Microsoft Office Suite and Maintenance tracking computer application experience and confidence to utlise.
• The ability to pass a pre-employment medical consisting of drug and alcohol testing are required.
